Managing Teams and Business Units
There are two ways to group employees: in teams or in Business Units.
Rules for belonging to a team or BU
- An employee can only belong to one team.
- An employee can belong to one team, and head up another team.
- A team can have several leaders.
- An employee can only belong to one BU.
- An employee can belong to one BU, and head up another BU.
- A BU can have several leaders.
- An employee can belong to one team AND one BU.
Teams/BUs on a contract
You can assign BUs and teams to a contract. This means that members of these BUs/teams can be assigned to the contract as a whole or individually. This feature allows all employees attached to a BU or Team to report time spent there.
It is possible to attach a single BU (and not team) to a contract. It allows you to divide the contract.
A BU attached to a contract does not imply that this BU is assigned to this contract.
Teams/ BUs in workflows - validation cycles
Team/BU leaders can be designated as validators of a step in validation cycles.
- The team lead validates the activities of employees on their team.
- The HR BU lead validates the activities of employees in his or her BU.
- The BU lead is the head of the BU assigned to the contract, so his or her employees will be the assigned staff on the contract.
